Louis Dejoy, the USPS Postmaster General announced today on USPS that the cost-cutting measures that he began instituting weeks ago would be suspended until after the November 3, 2020 election.
He asserts that:
- Retail hours at Post Offices will not change.
- Mail processing equipment and blue collection boxes will remain where they are.
- No mail processing facilities will be closed.
- And we reassert that overtime has, and will continue to be, approved as needed.
In addition, effective Oct. 1, we will engage standby resources in all areas of our operations, including transportation, to satisfy any unforeseen demand.
Here’s hoping we start seeing a return to our normal efficient mail deliveries as result, however the cost-cutting measures will resume after the election. Be sure to contact your representatives to let them know how important the US Postal Service is to you.
